In ayurveda eight different types of bodies that are prone to disease is mentioned in Charak Samhita. Out of these eight obese is the most disease prone, obesity means a body with excess of fats accumulated in adipose tissue.


Having an obese body brings lot of ailments especially it affects heart, liver, kidneys and joints like knees, hips and ankles. People who are overweight are more likely to get diabetes, coronary disorders, thrombosis, arthritis, gout, gall bladder disorders, high blood pressure and more. To control excess weight regular exercise, good and controlled diet, avoiding the reasons of weight gain.

If you want to go the ayurvedic way to lose those extra pounds then follow certain simple diets
Early morning drink a glass of lime and honey mixture water. For breakfast a cup of skimmed milk with bean or wheat sprouts

Mid-day consume a glass of orange/carrot/beet/pineapple juice
For Lunch take raw vegetable salad including cucumbers, tomatoes, radish, beetroot, boiled or steamed vegetables with whole grain wheat chapatti, a bowl of daal and a glass of thin buttermilk added with ginger, cumin, sea salt and coriander.

Mid – Afternoon you can take a glass of tender coconut water, green tea/lemon tea, vegetable soup, dry fruits
Dinner keep it light with whole grain wheat Indian bread, boiled vegetables, fruits do not include banana and apple

Ayurvedic home remedies for diet/weight loss
Eat as much as you can on raw vegetables, fresh fruits, boiled vegetables and low calorie foods. Foods that are rich in fats should be avoided such as meat, dairy products like cheese, butter, chocolates etc. Body weight increases due to excessive consumption of salt so try and avoid over usage of salt in your daily diet. 

Mint tea or anything with lot of mint is very beneficial to lose weight for ex mint chutney with little spices with your food intake is good. Among cereals wheat is really effective also you can try amaranth, barley or quinoa, do not add too much of rice and potato in your diet. Regular consumption of vegetable juices like carrot/cucumber+coriander/orange or any other citrus fruit juice is good. Avoid over consumption of meat especially red meat, fish occasionally is acceptable.

Salty : Any salty food
Sweet: Honey, sugar, rice, pasta

Astringent: Beans, Lentils, pomegranate etc
Bitter: Turmeric, lettuce and green leafy vegetables etc, all these six tastes get easily digested in your body so include these tastes to fight excess weight and it also leave you satisfied after every meal without any regret.
